Poppy Beans – Panama El Burro Geisha is a competition-grade single-origin specialty coffee from the Alto Quiel micro-region in Boquete. Produced by Lamastus Family Estates at El Burro, this lot consists of the Geisha variety, cultivated adjacent to the Volcán Barú National Park. The high altitude and specific volcanic terroir with dense micro-climatic fog extend the cherry maturation cycle by 30 days, enhancing organic sugar development. Processed via the traditional dry method (Natural), the lot delivers pristine quality and a cup composition awarded **90 SCA points**.
The resulting cup features excellent flavor separation, high structural sweetness, and a complex floral framework. The sensory profile leads with vibrant, tropical notes of sweet pineapple and ripe papaya, integrated with a prominent, sophisticated aroma of fresh jasmine. Lightly roasted for filter extraction, this high-density lot is designed for technical manual pour-overs including the Hario V60, Chemex, and AeroPress.
