DAK Coffee - Panama Citrus Loops - 125g
The last Panama Geisha of the season, with a very typical geisha profile. This coffee comes from El Velo at Finca La Esmeralda – after natural processing, it is very pure with notes of flowers, citrus, and peach.
Rudloph Peterson bought Hacienda La Esmeralda as a retirement home. At the time, the land was primarily cattle pasture with small patches of coffee. It wasn't until the mid-1990s that some North American coffee buyers began to broadly discuss specialty coffee.
This plot on the slopes of the Baru volcano was chosen for its high altitude, with the hope of growing coffee with higher scores. The farm was devastated by coffee leaf rust, but Daniel Peterson noticed that the Geisha trees were not as severely damaged, so they decided to plant this variety on a larger portion of the farm, above 1,650 meters above sea level. It was this high-altitude Geisha planting that helped them win the Best of Panama competition in 2004.
In profile: flowers, citrus, peach
