Friedhats – Burundi Gitwe marks an exciting milestone: the first-ever Burundi in the roastery's history. This lot from Gitwe Hill in the Butanyerera Province was selected for its exceptional clarity and sweetness. Produced through the renowned Long Miles Coffee project at the Heza washing station, these Bourbon beans are grown at high altitudes (up to 2100 masl) and processed using the traditional Washed method.
In the cup, Gitwe is syrupy sweet and citrusy, reminiscent of the bright black tea and jammy fig characteristics often found in top-tier Rwandan coffees. The profile is led by notes of green tea, red grape, and apricot, followed by a comforting hint of stewed spices. It is a dazzling introduction to Burundi as an origin—vibrant, complex, and perfect for filter brewing.
