Friedhats - Kenya Gakundu Washed is a classic yet very deep Kenya from the Embu region, produced by the Gakundu Farmers' Cooperative Society from coffees from 1,260 smallholder farmers. A blend of SL-28, SL-34, Ruiru 11, and Batian varieties, along with the washed process, creates an intense, clean cup full of sweet and spicy nuances.
The aroma is dominated by root beer – a spicy, sweet note reminiscent of herbal cola. Dates and molasses emerge in the flavor, building a thick, syrupy sweetness and depth. The coffee has a darker, more "brown sugar" character than typical citrus Kenyas – it is warm, rounded, and very satisfying. The acidity is present but subdued, making the overall coffee exceptionally harmonious and long-lasting.
