Kavoholik - Colombia Popayan DECAF - 200g

Another decaffeinated coffee option. This time from the Slovakian roastery Kavoholik. The Colombia, Castillo, and Caturra varieties have been wet-processed and then decaffeinated.

Coffee decaffeination occurs after the coffee (green) has been fully processed by the manufacturer and before it enters the roastery. Traditionally, decaffeination is most often performed using synthetic chemical solvents. This is effective, but less beneficial due to its environmental impact.

This decaffeinated coffee is locally decaffeinated in Colombia using the Sugar Cane method.

This process uses a natural byproduct of sugarcane (fermented molasses) as a solvent for caffeine extraction. Sugarcane is an important crop in this area, making it an ideal choice for decaffeinating locally grown coffee.
