Quickborn Roastery – Almost African is a seasonal specialty filter blend designed for manual pour-over extractions. The blend marries a classic fully Washed Kenyan coffee from the Thirikwa Farmers Cooperative (Kirinyaga) with a Colombian Pink Bourbon from Finca Río Negro (Huila). The Colombian component undergoes an experimental anaerobic co-fermentation with passion fruit purée, orange peel, and selected yeast strains. This pairing balances traditional Kenyan brightness with complex fruit processing.
The resulting filter roast demonstrates a bold, juicy taste profile. The sensory hierarchy is dominated by vibrant notes of tropical passion fruit and aromatic orange peel, supported by a sweet, lingering tropical finish. Lightly roasted for manual pour-over extraction, it performs consistently across tools like the Hario V60, Chemex, and AeroPress.
