element. – Uganda Kaweri Serval is a high-grade single-origin Fine Robusta from the Kaweri plantation in Uganda. This lot features the traditional Nganda and Erecta botanical varieties. The coffee was processed using the innovative Yeast Inoculated Natural Anaerobic method. This technique involves inoculating the harvested cherries with selected yeast strains during a controlled 48-hour fermentation stage before natural drying. The process significantly reduces typical earthy notes, enhancing organic sugars and flavor complexity.
The resulting cup features heavy body, high intensity, and a clean, fruit-forward flavor hierarchy quite unusual for robusta species. Heavy, harsh bitter tones are replaced by subtle cocoa elements and chocolate. The flavor profile is dominated by sharp notes of red grapes, a sweet undertone of rum, and a crisp accent of blackcurrant. Lightly roasted for filter extraction, this high-density lot performs consistently across manual pour-overs including the Hario V60 and AeroPress.
