Quickborn Coffee Roasters – a Slovak specialty roastery from Skalica
Quickborn Coffee Roasters is a specialty coffee roastery based in Skalica, Slovakia. The project is run by Tomáš – a barista – and Petru – a bartender. Their different backgrounds have helped shape a concept where specialty coffee meets bar culture and events.
Today, Quickborn selects and roasts coffees sourced from small farms around the world. Its range includes beans intended for both filter brewing and espresso, with individual coffees presented through information about origin, botanical variety, processing method, growing altitude and flavour profile.
The Quickborn story – from a tool shed to a horsebox
The Quickborn story began in an unusual place. Tomáš and Petru started experimenting with a small coffee roaster in a tool shed. They gradually began attending events and serving their own coffee. It was during this period that the idea emerged to take the project further and share their coffee selection from a converted horsebox trailer.
The horsebox became one of the characteristic elements of Quickborn. The project appeared at festivals, weddings, corporate events and other gatherings, combining specialty coffee, cocktails and a mobile bar. Over time, Quickborn also developed as a coffee roastery and shop with its own selection of beans.
What kind of coffee does Quickborn roast?
Quickborn states that its coffees come from small farms around the world and are selected and roasted by the team. The range changes according to seasonality and the availability of individual coffees.
